I recently saw a bit about your game on a Seattle news show, and I thought of something else that would be interesting. Basically think of something like Gran Turismo but for cyclists. Let me explain a bit more. I've got a bike trainer ( google 'bike trainer' and click on the performancebike link at the top) If there was a way to hook up that trainer via some device that then plugged into the game console, you could then have an interactive training game marketed at active/recreational cyclists. A first cut may be to just require that you have a cadence attachment to your cyclocomputer, and then use that to judge how fast/% effort someone is going (Which assumes they've adjusted the trainer resistance appropriately. As far as the game goes, you could easily just have simple sessions where you are just there for an aerobic workout up to where you simulate a race. Your tracks/courses are fairly unlimited, which could easily lead to spin off games. You have a mountain bike version, a road bike version, and say a track version (think velodrome track racing). Again, I'd be comfortable spending $50 per version of the game. I'll concentrate on the road version, but I'm sure if you're coding things correctly you can have quite a good framework that would allow you to apply different skins and conditions to make this work for any version. So what kind of features could you see in such a game? First you can utilize the memory card to save all kinds of statistics. How many calories you've burned, how many miles you've gone. For the more enthusiastic, emulate a pro race series where you keep points and such. Offer a few different people who are your "trainers" or coach depending on game mode. They can be there to encourage you and give you tips (could even be legit riding tips from actual pro riders/coaches) Beginner mode: Offer a few courses that emphasize aerobic fitness. Say riding through a park, or a waterfront. Vs Mode: Race against friend(s) who are over spinning with you. Competition Mode: Sign up for a race season. Pick how many races you wish to participate in and start keeping points. Touring mode: Simulate someone riding across the country, or perhaps just a long Randonneur. Freestyle mode: Imagine riding through the Big Dig Boston tunnel system, what about riding around various cities etc. As far as courses go this could be similar to Gran Turismo. Imagine riding a criterium race in downtown Seattle, or Manhattan. What if you were able to recreate the 2004 Tour de France course? Say you simulated the TdF, right down to stage details(Was it a time-trial, or a team trial? Pick which team you want to be on, etc ). What about the other races that are around. Giro de Italia, Vuelta en Espana, etc. The next release could include the option of racing/riding with ppl over the net, start up a stat site where you can upload your race info and start racing globally. Perhaps this seems a bit daunting, but even if you just came out with something initially that let your ride around a few courses and used the cadence hookup (would require cyclo-computer that had the cadence option but those are $30 or under) that could keep track of your effort that'd be a huge improvement over just staring at nothing or listening to music. Anyway that's about it. Keep up the good work.
