The seventh race was at Evergreen High School, which is down in Burien. This usually tends to be a pretty fun course and is pretty spectator friendly. For people racing, the only big thing is a decent (in comparison to the other courses in the series) run up.
I’ve decided to put on […]

Forty two, eleven.
November 18th, 2005 · No Comments
Well that’s right. It’s the week before Thanksgiving and I’ve got 4,211 miles logged for the year.
I verbalized a goal of 5,000 during the 2004 year that I just didn’t make (3,472). With that I figured I’d shoot for it this year but not really saying it as an “official” goal.
With 6 […]

Race Report: Back to Steilacoom for race #4
October 31st, 2005 · No Comments
This week’s race was again out at Fort Steilacoom Park (the first time was a non series race). I think this is going to be my favorite venue as the courses that are put together are fairly challenging and really fun.
This time around was a bit different from what the Rad Racing guys had […]

71 guys lined up for the third series race yesterday at Kelley Creek Farm (just outside of Sumner).
I was able to show up early enough to get a good look at the course, as it was said that you could see about 80% of it from the top of the hill. Turns out […]

Seattle Weekly takes a look at cycling in the Seattle area with Seattle It’s Gridlock vs. Bike Lock
The “bike-shed” number is three miles. And the Cascade club cites a Puget Sound Regional Council study showing half of all automobile trips are shorter than five miles.
So do you want to live within three to five miles […]

Physical Activity/ Calorie Fitness Calculators
October 20th, 2005 · No Comments
MarathonGuide.com’s calorie calculator shows that for an hour of cycling at 14-16mph (which even though I always feel like I’m doing 18-20, my avg seems to always be about 16), I’ll burn 853 calories!
I have to say I sure don’t feel like I’m going through 1700 calories each time I ride to/from work.

25 miles per snack vs 15 miles per gallon
October 20th, 2005 · No Comments
There’s a cyclelicious post talking about how far you can go on $2.50 worth of food, comparing that to how much a gallon of gas costs.
I have a Wednesday evening ritual. I go to the Philips 66 gas station at Boston and Sunset and pay about two and half dollars for […]
