uploadr.py using new “User Auth” system

October 3rd, 2005 · No Comments

Sorry for the lateness here, but uploadr.py should now be working just fine with the new User AUTH system. The main problem here was that the older version wasn’t working for people who had signed up via their Yahoo accounts. This should hopefully take care of that issue.

This will entail you giving uploadr permissions to access your account. Uploadr needs “write” permissions in order to upload images to your flickr account. Don’t worry though, there isn’t any “Delete” functionality implemented (don’t believe me, look at the code).

One thing I haven’t gotten to work yet, is authentication via the lynx web browser. For this reason you’ll need to use your graphical browser of choice if you are on a non Windows or Mac OS. If you have a workaround for this please let me know.

I’ve given screenshots of what the “giving uploadr permissions to my Flickr account” looks like.

update: It indeed does work with the new Yahoo accounts, however you may experience some issues with your cached token from Flickr from time to time (this is fixed by removing your .flickrToken file). I’ll look into this in the future as time permits. I also added some better error message handling to give you a better idea of what is going wrong when something does go wrong.
